Tsala Treetop Lodge, Plettenberg Bay, South Africa
Why we love it
Everyone dreams of having their own tree house. What we love is the feeling of truly feeling cradled in the branches of an age-old garden route forest. You wake up to the sound of canopy birds, and opening the curtains the forest drops off below you. Its truly magical. We loved the generous managment style, where there are few extras and much gifting. We love that it's half way between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, so well positioned for any visitor. We love the authentic management style that is easy and warm, but completely proffessional. Beware, these villas are very romantic.
What to expect
Ten private villas sleeping two in each, and six villas sleeping four. As you walk in to the villas the feeling of luxury and comfort is everywhere from the fireplace, mini bar, under-floor heating, massive windows overlooking the forest, cotton linen and all the extras you can dream of in a five star establishment. Each villa has its own plunge pool. Massive bathrooms and outdoor showers are wonderful. You can have meals in your room if you are like me and never want to leave your tree house - or visit one of three different restaurants on the estate. Expect excellent service, fabulous comfort and wonderful food.
What time is best
The Garden Route is lovely all year round, but dont be afraid of winter in these villas - they are so cosy and warm!
how to get there
An easy drive or short flight from Cape Town or Port Elizabeth.
Kids: Kids are welcomed, and the two bedroom villas work well for families. Dining is sophisticated, so not always ideal for young kids.
